Sexism in Candidacy Questions

My husband and I are both candidates for ordination in the ELCA.

During my entrance interview with my committee, there was a lot of pressure for me to attend a Lutheran seminary instead of an Ivy League Divinity school, despite my gifts and academic inclinations.  The folks in the room made a huge point of telling me over and over, that I was a mother, and that in order to balance ministry and school, I should go to a Lutheran school where I would have more support.

My husband, a candidate in the same synod, was asked no questions about balancing parenthood with studies or ministry.
